Flipsy General FAQ

What is Flipsy.com?

Flipsy.com is the leading online pricing guide that provides accurate values for phones, tablets, gaming consoles, smart watches, and other items. Flipsy is used by sellers to determine how much their items are worth and by buyers who are seeking fair prices. Flipsy also offers a search engine that compares current buyback offers (what sellers can instantly get paid for their items).

Flipsy constantly monitors real-world transactions to deliver accurate, real-world values for iPhones, Samsung phones, Android phones, Blackberries, iPads, iPods, tablets, Apple Watches, Samsung Watches, and gaming consoles.

Why should I choose Flipsy?

Flipsy makes it easy to sell your stuff for more money. Our Trust Verified Stores pay an average of 30% more than carrier trade-in programs, and they offer fast cash payment options instead of carrier credit that’s typically delayed 2 to 3 billing cycles. Unlike eBay, Craigslist and other sites, you do not need to create a detailed listing or wait for a buyer.

How do I sell my item through Flipsy.com?

Use Flipsy to instantly compare current offers from dozens of Trust Verified Stores that compete to pay top dollar for used devices and books. Pick the best offer, and you’ll be directed to the buyer’s website to complete your transaction. Online buyback companies offer free shipping plus 7 to 30 day price locks, which allow you to lock in a high price now, beat price drops and wait to sell until you’re ready.

What if I have multiple devices to sell?

You can use Flipsy.com’s bulk selling page to sell up to 25 devices at once. We’ll notify Trust Verified Stores, who will begin sending you offers within 1 to 24 hours. Choose the best offer and cash in with one simple transaction. If you have more than 25 devices to sell, contact us and we’ll be happy to set up your request for you.

Is Flipsy.com safe? Are your stores safe?

Yes. Flipsy.com only lists offers from Trust Verified Stores who have a proven track record of conducting safe online transactions. Flipsy monitors review sites, customer feedback and rating services to make sure stores are maintaining good customer relationships. We invite you to view profiles, reviews, policies and contact information for every store we search here.

What products can I valuate on Flipsy.com?

You can find current values for iPhones, Samsung phones, Android phones, Blackberries, iPads, iPods, tablets, Apple Watches, Samsung Watches, and gaming consoles. More categories are coming soon.

If you have a product you would like to see us add, please let us know.

How do you estimate what my item is worth?

Flipsy monitors real-world transactions to determine accurate current market values. The value of any item is driven by the market, so Flipsy displays values based on what people are actually buying and selling products for today.

Who pays for shipping?

Buyback stores pay for shipping, so it’s 100% free for sellers. You will get a free prepaid shipping label when you complete your transaction. Some buyback stores also provide packaging.

How do I get paid, and when?

Payouts are issued within 1 to 3 days after your selected store receives and inspects your device. Payments are tendered via check, PayPal, store credit, Venmo and other methods.

How can I tell what condition my item is in?

Note that each store has a slightly different way of determining an item’s condition.

Good

  • Light use
  • No scratches
  • Fully functional

Fair

  • Light use
  • Some scratches
  • Functional

Poor

  • Heavy use
  • Cracked screen
  • Functional

Broken

  • Battery damage
  • Water damage
  • Functional

What if my device is broken or my items are in poor condition?

Many Flipsy.com stores purchase items in a variety of conditions, including New, Like New, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor and Broken. No matter what condition your item is in, you can sell it on Flipsy.com.

Can I sell a locked or blacklisted phone? What are locked and blacklisted phones?

You can sell locked and blacklisted iPhones on Flipsy.com by clicking the “Locked or Blacklisted?” link on any price comparison page. “Blacklisted” typically means that a phone has been reported lost or stolen (they’re also referred to as phones with bad IMEIs or ESNs).

Phones can either be activation locked, which means software prevents them from being activated with a new carrier; or, they can be finance locked, which means you still owe money on the device so it cannot be transferred to another carrier. Learn more about how to sell locked and blacklisted phones.

What are IMEIs and ESNs? What’s the difference, and how can I check if my device has a bad IMEI or ESN?

Every device is identifiable by a unique number, known as an IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) or ESN (Electronic Serial Number).

IMEIs are used to identify phones that use GSM technology, including phones that work on AT&T and T-Mobile networks. ESNs are used on CDMA phones, such as those that work on Verizon and Sprint networks.

If a phone is reported lost or stolen, carriers can blacklist IMEIs and ESNs so the device cannot be activated. You can find out if your phone has a bad ESN or IMEI by contacting your carrier or using any ESN/IMEI checker. One option is CTIA's Stolen Phone Checker (the national database for stolen phones). Learn more about how to tell if your phone is blacklisted.

What happens if the buyback store doesn’t agree with the condition I’ve listed?

If the buyback store receives your phone in a different condition than you described, they will contact you with a revised offer. You can accept the offer and receive your payout; alternatively, you can request the store return your device. Some will return your device for free. Note that each store has its own policy.

Do I need to include my SIM card, microSD card and/or charger?

No, you can remove your SIM card and microSD card, if applicable, before you send your item to the buyer. You do not need to send your charger or any other accessories.

What are Flipsy.com Price Alerts and Offer Alerts?

Price Alerts automatically notify you via email when an offer matches your set price for an item you want to sell. To set your price, click the Price Alert link on any price comparison page.

Offer Alerts send weekly price updates to your inbox so you can keep tabs on how much your items are worth - and cash in when the price is right. To sign up, simply click the blue Offer Alert tab on the right-hand side of any price comparison page.

What are price histories and private party values?

Click Price History on any price comparison page to see daily and monthly fluctuations in your item’s value. That way, you can see whether values are increasing or decreasing and if it’s a good time to sell. Private party values show you how much your item is currently selling for on marketplaces like eBay and Craigslist.

What if I forgot who I sold my device to and I have a question?

Please search your email, including your spam folder, for the name of the device you’re selling. This should bring up any correspondence you have had with the buyback store.

What are Flipsy.com's terms and conditions?
